Nice to meet you, I’m Shirley!
I’m currently a Communication and Events Specialist at IKEA in East Palo Alto, CA, where I help elevate brand awareness and deepen customer loyalty through strategic events and community engagement. In my role, I blend creativity and strategic insight to connect with diverse audiences and strengthen IKEA’s presence.
My path into design began with a love for art in high school, where drawing and painting grew into creating digital content for campus organizations. This early experience not only sparked my interest in pursuing design professionally but also taught me the impact that thoughtful visuals can have on an audience. At UC Davis, I built on this foundation by pursuing a degree in design and honing my design skills through projects for student organizations, which also sparked my interest in marketing and user experience.
Today, I’m focused on combining my design expertise with my expanding knowledge of marketing. I believe that design should be functional and beautiful, but above all, it should help tell a brand’s story in a way that connects with people. I’m excited to continue creating meaningful experiences that drive engagement and resonate with audiences through thoughtful, strategic design.
